Monaghan Rose visits DSCNE

We were delighted to have Anne-Marie McArdle, the recently crowned Monaghan Rose, visit the Down Syndrome Centre North East on Wednesday, June 12th to meet with the children, families, staff, and volunteers.

Being a resident of the area, Anne-Marie was well acquainted with our organization, as some of her family members had previously volunteered with us, offering their time and expertise. Anne-Marie is happy to support the promotion of our activities in the North East and acknowledges the value of the family-oriented services we offer in the county.

Our mailing list includes more than 100 families, among which 80 children consistently participate in classes or groups with their peers. We offer assistance, services, and therapies to children aged 0-18 and their families in the North East region encompassing Cavan, Monaghan, Louth, Meath, and neighboring areas.

This visit was particularly significant because it marked the graduation day for the School Readiness group, as the four boys who regularly participate in the Wednesday sessions are all set to begin primary school this Autumn. Families were welcomed to join the celebration and delighted in viewing a slideshow showcasing the various fun activities the children have engaged in over the years. Each child received a certificate, a scrapbook, and a report for their parents. It was a delight to see how wonderful and elegant the children looked in their gowns and hats. A few of them joined us more than three years ago, and we have witnessed their growth and success firsthand.

We extend our best wishes to the boys for the upcoming part of their journey and eagerly anticipate Anne-Marie's representation of Monaghan at the Rose of Tralee. Don't forget to mention us to Dáithí and Kathryn!
