This week we were delighted to receive the good news that The Down Syndrome Centre North East is a County Winner for the National Lottery Good Causes Awards!
We applied for the Health and Wellbeing Category for the summer group activities we provided to children during July and August 2021 which included Moo Music, Early Intervention, Drama, Mindfulness and Social groups as well as a three day sensory workshop with Ceol Connected.
We were really proud to be able to deliver groups last summer after a challenging year, and managed to provide lots of fun and friendships in a safe, measured manner alongside ever changing Covid19 rules and restrictions.
We've been informed the sheer number of entries across the country was beyond the judges expectations but that they were really impressed with our entry. Being named County Winner is a true testament and a reflection of all the good work we do and we are so happy to receive this recognition.
We have now progressed to the next stage of the competition and await to hear which 35 organisations will makes the shortlist for the National Finals. Fingers and toes crossed!
