Occupational Therapist (Independent Contractor)

 

Location: Hub 21 (formerly the Down Syndrome Centre North East)

Units 15–18, CTek 1 Building,

Riverside Road, Carrickmacross,

Co. Monaghan, A81 FY61

Hours: Minimum 3.5 hours per week (ideally one full day each week/7 hours)

Contract Type: Contract for Services (Independent Contractor)

Start Date: Immediate / Ongoing

About Hub 21

Hub 21 (formerly the Down Syndrome Centre North East) provides a range of developmental, educational, and therapeutic supports for children and teenagers (o to 18 years) with Down syndrome and their families. About the Role

We are seeking a CORU-registered Occupational Therapist to provide therapy services on a Contract for Services basis. This is an independent contractor role; applicants will not be employed directly by Hub 21.

 

The successful candidate will assess, plan, and deliver both one-to-one and group occupational therapy sessions for children and teenagers with Down syndrome.

The role requires a minimum weekly commitment of 3.5 hours, or up to one full day each week (7 hours)

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate Occupational Therapy services at Hub 21.

  • Conduct formal and informal assessments and develop tailored, evidence-based treatment plans.

  • Deliver one-to-one and group therapy sessions focused on functional, sensory, and daily living skills.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential case notes and reports.

  • Collaborate closely with families, carers, and the wider multidisciplinary team.

  • Participate in quarterly virtual multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings (paid hourly).

  • Contribute to Easter and Summer camp planning and delivery.

  • Promote and use Lámh communication within sessions.

  • Support ongoing quality improvement and service development initiatives.

 

Requirements

  • CORU registration (Occupational Therapist Division) – essential.

  • Experience working with children or individuals with intellectual disabilities desirable.

  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills.

  • Professional, compassionate, and family-centred approach.

  • Garda Vetting required in line with Hub 21’s Garda Vetting Policy (Hub 21 will conduct this).

  • Applicants must operate as independent contractors and hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance (certificate to be provided within 30 days of agreement).
